No Frills 2010: Lead Green!
The University of Wisconsin-Green Bay, widely recognized as one of the first Eco-U’s, does not limit its campus community’s commitment and love for the environment, but extends it locally and regionally. Encircling all of our facilities is the Cofrin Memorial Arboretum, a 260-acre greenbelt that provides a unique experience and display of appreciation for the local biodiversity to students and community members alike. Every year, RHAA puts on its Energy Conservation Program with incredible zeal by promoting less consumption of resources, awareness of everyone’s own carbon footprint, and the benefits of living a greener lifestyle at home and on campus. Our student government has continually supported student initiatives aimed at addressing the environment and honored its dedication to investing in renewable energy from on-campus utilities and local energy companies. Not surprisingly, our chancellor has announced our 2009-2010 Common Theme to be “Realizing Our Sustainable Future,” providing even more relevance to our theme and the current goals of the GLACURH region.

Bringing leaders together is one thing, but hosting a conference, an incredibly unique experience for any campus, has created a rally point of fervor. From Day One, our conference chairs have more than upheld the commitment they pledged for this endeavor, by going above and beyond all expectations we set for them. UWGB’s Residence Life has offered us full support to ensure that our staff has all the resources it needs to put on a successful and positive conference for tomorrow’s leaders.

Our campus is prepared with the resources, leaders, and enthusiasm to hold an innovative No Frills 2010. We strive to be different by implementing numerous green initiatives including: the use of clickers in the board room, fully online registration materials and conference binders, and planned philanthropic activities for the duration of No Frills 2010. Already, our conference staff, RHAA, NRHH, Residence Life Department, and other campus entities are prepared to facilitate the entire GLACURH region as they choose to LeadGreen for a better tomorrow.
